The brief was to turn a large 7 bedroomed house in a tired state of repair into a fabulous 4 bedroomed family home with all the required disability facilities for the families young disabled daughter. This completed home including a ground floor extension had features such as ‘wave’ system door entry and tap operation, extensive disability hoists, powered changing benches, passenger lift, powered height adjustable toilets and sinks and many other features.
The disability facilities were very important on this project but it was equally as important to provide a high specification high-quality property that felt very much like a home rather than a clinical environment. All parties involved agreed that this had been achieved and the project was nominated for the Local Authority building control Awards in the category of best home extension and disability adaptation.
